Tita Cory is an Online Diva

On Wednesday night when I got home, I turned on the TV for some late night viewing. At the witching hour, surfing through the endless channels of crap that is Philippines television, I was mesmerized by the tributes to Corazon Aquino that took up every commercial break. Lea Salong, The Apo Hiking Society, Christian Bautista, Piolo Pascual, Martin Nievera, Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez are among the singers I recall that sang for Tita Cory. I

What's more, the death of Mrs. Aquino reminded me of the death of my grandfather. The only difference is that he doesn't have cancer but he died while sleeping due to heart attack triggere

I was too young to know what was going on at the time – I had just turned four years old a few months earlier – but the flood of yellow ribbons on our street meant that my friends and I now had headbands, which we used to dress up like Robby Rosa from Menudo, or JC Bonnin from the Bagets. “Cory, Cory, Cory kami!” we would then chant while flashing Laban signs,
